Before Node Key Delegation
Prior to the introduction of Node Key Delegation by Huddle01, the concept was simple: 1 Node Key = 1 Media Node.
The minimum requirements for a Media Node are:
4 GB RAM
4 vCPUs
250 Mbps of bandwidth
The average monthly rental cost for a Media Node is approximately $20.
The earlier you buy in on the Huddle01 Node Sale, the lower will be the FDV or Market Cap and higher will be the returns. Let's consider two scenarios for someone lucky enough to secure Node Keys in the Tier 8 or Tier 9 (priced at $450-$500) during the Huddle01 Node Sale:
Scenario 1: Buying 10 Keys
Initial investment: $5,000
Monthly node expenses: $200 ($20 per node)

After Node Key Delegation
With Node Key Delegation, a Media Node can now accept up to 10 keys as delegates. This changes the economics significantly:

Potential earnings: Up to 1,500 $HUDL/month (5 $HUDL/day per key)

Scenario 2: Buying 1 Key and Running a 4 vCPU Media Node

With a single key, the Media Node can accept up to 9 additional keys as delegates. The node operator can charge a commission (e.g., 10%) on the rewards earned by the delegated keys.
Potential earnings with delegation: Up to 285.0 $HUDL/month (9.5 $HUDL/day, assuming a 10% commission from 9 delegates)
Result: 90% increase in rewards by accepting delegations
💡 With delegation, one can earn rewards from their keys without having to themselves run a node.
The number of Node Keys a Media Node can accept increases with more resources. For example, an 8 vCPU and 1 Gbps Media Node can accept up to 40 node keys as delegations.
With 40 keys, a node operator can spend just $40/month and earn 4x the rewards. Someone committing $40/month with a single key can increase their earnings by up to 195% through delegations.
